Critical Finance Studies

We no longer believe in this world. We do not even believe in the events which happen to us, love, death, as if they only half concerned us … The link between man and the world is broken. Henceforth, this link must become an object of belief: it is the impossible which can only be restored within a faith. … We need reasons to believe in this world. … What is certain is that believing is no longer believing in another world, or in a transformed world. It is only, it is simply believing in the body. — Gilles Deleuze

Studying finance critically is playing with – while being played by – the normative forces of financial apparatuses; risking one’s self in the course of producing radically novel ways of thinking and comprehending finance and, ultimately, of creating new possibilities of life.
